Norland Nanny salaries

All qualified Norland Nannies have a minimum of one years’ experience working with children and families. Their salary depends upon their experience, work history and the number of hours they are required.

Norland salary guidelines and template contracts always quote salaries in gross. A gross salary includes tax and National Insurance contributions giving you a more complete picture of what you will be paying for your nanny, with only Employer’s National Insurance to be added. Agreeing a gross salary means that your nanny will pay for any additional deductions, such as their student loan, rather than as their employer being expected to pay this. Also, by agreeing a gross salary your nanny will benefit from any changes in personal tax allowance without impacting on the gross salary you pay them. Employers must provide a written statement of earnings (payslip) and deductions to the Norland Nanny on a monthly basis. Read more information and advice on the gross salary agreement on the Nannytax website and find out more about our discount code for clients registering with the Norland Agency and Newly Qualified Nanny teams.

Nannies do not usually meet HMRC’s criteria for self-employment. However, there are exceptions. Our maternity practitioners are quite often registered as self-employed, and in this case would be responsible for paying their own tax and national insurance. When working overseas a nanny will need to continue to make National Insurance contributions in order to claim UK state benefits.

The salary ranges given below are a guide only. An individual Norland Nanny salary may be higher than those quoted. The salary will also vary depending on your specific job requirements. Salaries given are based on 50 hours per week for a live-out (daily) nanny and 60 hours per week for a live-in (residential) nanny. This is then calculated pro rata for part-time positions. The Home Counties include Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

Please note, roles falling within the parameters of Greater London, the family will need to advertise the London salary ranges.

Norland Nanny placement fees

For all permanent Norland Nanny placements, a one-off fee payment is made to Norland Agency which is invoiced on the day that the Norland Nanny starts their position. Fees are based on gross salaries, using Nannytax gross to net tables for employees working on a standard tax code plus National Insurance. For temporary nanny (including event and proxy parents) and maternity practitioner placements a daily fee rate is charged. Any repeat bookings must be notified to Norland Agency as additional Agency fees may be applicable as per our Terms and Conditions. Norland Agency proudly supports the charity Twins Trust and offers all Twins Trust members a discount on the Agency fees as listed in the tables below.

Every effort will be made to introduce suitable applicants, but the final decision to engage a Norland Nanny must be the employer’s responsibility.

Please note: the names of Norland Nannies are given to employers in the strictest confidence. Should they be passed on to other employers and subsequently engaged, the usual placement fee will be charged.
