Mandy Edmond – Vice Principal, Head of Quality and Standards and Registrar – provides expert advice to families on how to support children with the transition back to school after the summer holidays.

Her top tips include having fun together with practical arrangements ahead of the return to school, for example by creating a homework station in the home or inviting some of their classmates for a ‘back to school party picnic’ to practise opening lunchboxes and waterbottles and play lunch break games together. Mandy explains how emotion coaching can help a child feel calm and relaxed about the change in routine, and offers some ideas to help children who miss being at home.
