Norland collaborates on Equality in Higher Education Project to enhance student success
7 March 2025

Norland is excited to announce Higher Education Innovation funding from the Office for Students (OfS) for its collaborative project on delivering equality of opportunity in higher education. The funding will support the development of an inclusive practice model aimed at enhancing the success of students with disabilities, neurodiversity and mental health issues.
Led by The Engineering & Design Institute London (TEDI-London) and partners Richmond, the American International University in London, Independent Higher Education, Applied Inspiration, Diversity and Ability, and Norland, the project seeks to explore alternative assessment approaches that best support student needs. It will conduct workshops to explore various assessment types to enhance students’ skills and confidence.
As one of just eleven successful project bids to receive this funding from the OfS, Norland will work with TEDI-London and project partners to create a new model that helps disabled students achieve greater success and develop a mechanism to measure student confidence and self-efficacy in assessments. Project outcomes will include a report and new resources to contribute to the evidence base on inclusive assessment approaches.
Dr Rebecca Digby, Vice Principal – Head of Learning, Teaching and Research at Norland, expressed her excitement about the project:
“We’re thrilled to be working with TEDI-London, Richmond, the American International University in London, Independent Higher Education, Applied Inspiration, and Diversity and Ability following our successful bid to develop an inclusive model for assessment in higher education.
“This project offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact across the student experience at Norland and reflects our commitment to supporting a diverse range of students to become knowledgeable, skilled, and resilient early years practitioners with excellent graduate outcomes.”
