Biography
Emma studied for a BA Hons in English Language for Education and a Master’s of Education in Psychology of Education at the University of Manchester, which inspired a career in supporting children and young people’s wellbeing in a variety of residential, education and clinical settings.
Having begun her career as an Assistant Psychologist working with children with complex developmental trauma, Emma found immense joy and fulfilment in supporting children and their caregivers through interventions focused on attachment, executive functioning and developmental competencies.
Following this, Emma worked closely with children in care as the Participation and Engagement Officer for her local council, empowering youth voices within council decision-making processes.
In her second Assistant Psychologist post, Emma completed triage and safety assessments for patients undergoing psychiatric and psychological assessment, including university students accessing assessments for learning disabilities.
Beyond this, Emma trained within the NHS to become a low-intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy practitioner, and has since worked with both children and caregivers to support them in breaking unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviours.
Emma’s passion for learning and experience in supporting others’ wellbeing provides a strong foundation for her role as Student Support Officer at Norland.
