Join us at our next Norland Unwrapped for our early childhood degree taster session on equality and diversity: a fairer society for children and young people on Wednesday 6 November, 5-6pm GMT.

We’re hosting a virtual Norland Unwrapped session to offer prospective students a glimpse into the content that our students study on our BA (Hons) Early Childhood Education and Care degree and Norland diploma.

Led by Tara Nolty, Lecturer in Early Years, this taster session will provide an overview of the first-year core module Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) and why it matters to early years practitioners supporting children. You’ll be encouraged to ask questions about the topic. Then, through online participation, you’ll explore the protected characteristic of age and how – and if – young people are treated equally and fairly within society. We will consider some historical and contemporary frameworks of youth as well as ‘labels’ associated with young people. Through break-out groups, you will explore the limitations and advantages of these labels and share with the wider group how labels can impact opinions of young people, what young people can or cannot achieve, and if these views are fair.

This microteach will highlight module expectations of student engagement while considering important equality and diversity topics covered in this core first-year degree module at Norland.

Please note: if you have a specific query about entry requirements or your qualifications, please contact [email protected] directly as we’ll not be able to answer specific individual queries during this taster session. We’d love to welcome you to one of our open events if you’d like to know more about studying at Norland. Book on an open event or watch our previous virtual events on all aspects of Norland student life on our YouTube channel.
