UCAS applications open

Applications can be submitted up until the equal consideration deadline in January via UCAS to begin your studies the following year (or for a deferred place), using the codes provided above.

October

Norland interviews begin

If you meet our entry requirements, you will be invited to one of our interview sessions, which run from October until we close applications.

January

UCAS equal consideration deadline

To ensure your application to Norland receives equal consideration, you must submit it before this deadline.

11 April 2025

Emily Ward Bursary deadline (for 2025 entry)

Once you hold the offer of a place to study, you will be invited to submit a bursary application by the deadline to be considered for a means-tested award.

June

UCAS offers response deadline

If you receive all your application decisions by May, you must reply to your offers by the UCAS June deadline, otherwise they will be declined by default.

August

A-level/SQA results day

A-level/SQA results are published in August and conditional offers will be either confirmed or declined, depending on your results.

Writing your personal statement

We understand that you may be applying to other universities and courses and will be unable to specifically mention studying at Norland and your aspirations to become a Norland Nanny in your personal statement. If you’d like to tailor a personal statement to Norland, saying why you want to study with us, we will accept this additional statement which you can email directly to our admissions team. This will be considered alongside the rest of your application.

The interview process

If you meet our entry requirements, you will be invited to Norland for an interview. The interview is in two parts. One part is a one-to-one interview with a member of staff where you will be asked about why you want to study at Norland and train to become a Norland Nanny. The interviewer will also ask you a question about the Norland Code of Professional Responsibilities. The second part will be a group interview along with 4-8 other applicants and 1-2 interviewers. This involves a presentation task which changes each year and you will be sent information 2 weeks ahead of the interview to prepare. We also invite students to bring a portfolio to showcase any relevant work if they wish.

Interviews are informal. We are looking to see your passion for making a difference in the lives of children and families. It is also a great opportunity to meet some of your potential classmates.
