Etihad Airways
Norland started working with Etihad Airways in 2013. Together we devised the Flying Nanny training programme, written by Norland, to help cabin crew learn about the needs of children throughout their flying experience. VP for Guest Service Linda Celestino shares her experience.
“Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, now has more than 1,800 Flying Nannies, approved by Norland College, helping families on flights across our global network of over 100 flights.
“Since the launch in 2013, the Flying Nanny has become a key feature on Etihad Airways’ long-haul flights providing support to families and children, creating fun and memorable moments with games and activities.”
“The course includes training, from the world-renowned Norland College, which enables the Flying Nannies to identify different types of behaviour and developmental stages that children go through and how to appreciate the perspective and needs of travelling families.”
“The course also incorporates a variety of creativity in all elements of training, providing opportunities for the nannies to take ordinary on board service items, along with their Flying Nanny Kit and their knowledge of children, to create inspired moments on board for guests.
“They have become a unique selling point for the airline, and we know they are appreciated by millions of customers who choose to fly with us year after year. Our partnership has enabled many employees to undergo Norland-approved Flying Nanny training and the college has played a vital role in the needs of our business.”
Feedback from an Etihad Flying Nanny:
- “Thank you for agreeing to train us and inspiring me to be a better child carer and even person! I promise to try my very best to have some happy young travellers leave from my aircraft!”
